Name That Body Part

One of the things I have found most enjoyable with this pregnancy is the movement I feel from Joshua inside my belly! As he has been growing the movements, obviously, have started feeling much different than before.

I guess since it's my first pregnancy, I was not able to identify (earlier on) the difference between a kick, a poke, or a roll... but all that has changed, and I am so loving it. I like to call it my personal game of "Name that body part". As I sit on the couch (or in the pew at church) which is when I feel it most often, I usually feel Joshua up near my rib cage (and sometimes just under the sternum [I think that's the name of it]) and as he moves I can usually determine if it's a knee, a foot, or sometimes even a little "tiny hiney"! :) It makes me smile everytime. While sometimes it can be quite uncomfortable, it's just one of those things that I know I am going to really miss after he's born!

I think it's very interesting that the "medical" field calls this movement "quickening"... I should do some research and find out how it came to be known as that. I am not sure if other denominations, besides Primitive Baptist, use the term "quickening" to describe the new birth, but I wonder if the term was first used as a religious word, or if it was first used as a medical term...

My dear Bethany (who I would like to refer to as Borrowed Little Sis) has offered to do a pregnancy photo shoot with me next Saturday! Soooo, if all goes well, I may be able to post some current photos soon! I can't wait!

:)Are you sure that's the ONLY thing you miss???

You don't miss the "I'm Pregnant" card that allows you to:
~ eat what you want (no matter how many times you have been through the McD's drive-thru already)
~ stay in your pj's all day even in the middle of the week
~ jump in line at a public restroom becuase after all, you do look like you're about to burst
~ get out of ridiculous things (such as riding roller coasters and what not) becuase, hey, you're pregnant!

:)

Since I've never had that experience, I'll have to live vicariously through you for a while. It sounds a little creepy to me and I always found myself staring wide-eyed at Melissa's belly waiting to see a body part float by when she was pregnant with her three kiddos.

Bekah, I always thought it was creepy too, but when you are actually pregnant and know that it's a sign of a healthy baby inside, the creepiness turns into this absolutely amazing feeling... even Jim is intrigued by it! You will come to love it!

I am sure you are right. It actually is more intriguing now than it used to be, but still a itsy-bitsy bit creepy. The "tiny hiney" makes me totally giggle every time I think about it.

Isn't it wonderful. I enjoyed that with all 6 of my babies. Sigh, alas I am done. Thats okay though, NOW. It took a while

Jeremy- it's funny you say that, because I have noticed that Joshua seems to be so active during the preaching service... I of course would love to believe that he already knows and loves the Lord! :)

Bef- I am very excited too, I have been doing my homework (like I promised) and have some ideas for poses.

Amanda- I agree, it is a little creepy actually seeing the movement, but the like I said to Bekah the feeling is AMAZING

Amy- I would love to have a big family (like your 6) I don't know that at age 30 I would be able to have that many, but if the Lord blesses us with more than Joshua I will be thankful for that... I will have to call on your expertise, though, if I have even just half the amount of children you have! :) ha ha

I was telling Gary the other night that I would miss having him in there, and miss feeling him move and he didn't really get it. I love watching my stomache jump and feeling Britt move, but Gary still says it looks like an alien trying to break lose.

It's fun after the baby is born, too. You'll see him move and say, "Oh, that's what you were doing in there!"
