My Prayer

Someone on my FB friend list posted this on their status and it struck me to the heart that I wanted to share it, and jot down some thoughts:

"Lord, help me live from day to day in such a self-forgetful way that even when I kneel to pray, my prayer shall be for others."

Our Lord and Saviour lived day to day with no other purpose than to do HIS Father's will. And in one selfless act, laid down HIS life to save HIS people from their sins. What better example could we possibly have. Yet we live in such a "self gratifying" society. We have a lot of obstacles to overcome in putting away self and doing more for others.

Jim and I have talked often about how to be more helpful to others and are looking into several volunteer opportunities in the community.

In like manner, I am reminded in this short little poem that there is such power in prayer. If I took just one of my daily prayers and devoted it entirely to praying for others (and leaving myself out) WOW!!! There are so many people that stand in need of the Lord's help. If any of my 2 readers (hee hee) have anything/anyone specifically that need prayer, please let me know. God Bless!

Hi!

Glad you're blogging again. I enjoy your insights! Please pray that I would be able to discern God's wiil as far as my 'secular' employment options and my ministry.

Thanks!

Awesome post! I love this poem, and I promise to live by this poem.

Please pray for Phil's grandpa as he recovers from a stroke. And please remember my cookie as she flies to Wisconsin for a week without her momma -- maybe a prayer for me too :(

Mimmy, I will definitely pray for Phil's grandfather for full/speedy recovery. I will miss our Cookie and pray fervently that the Lord will hold that plane in the palm of HIS hand and deliver her safely to her destination. And prayers for you will be lifted up as well. Love you! :)

You have more than 2 readers, some of us just have been without internet for WEEKS!!! This reminds me that I am dreadfully behind in updating our prayer list on our blog.

Also, you may already know, but that poem you posted is the first line to the song "Others" we sang it one year in singing school. It happens to be 544 in the Number 12 book. It's also in the little hymnal.
