Dust if you must.
But wouldn’t it be better,
To paint a picture, or write a letter,
Bake a cake, or plant a seed?
Ponder the difference between want and need.
Dust if you must.
But there is not much time
With rivers to swim and mountains to climb!
Music to hear, and books to read,
Friends to cherish and life to lead.
Dust if you must.
But the world’s out there
With the sun in your eyes,
the wind in your hair,
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain.
This day will not come round again.
Dust if you must.
But bear in mind,
Old age will come and it’s not kind.
And when you go, and go you must,
You, yourself, will make more dust.

What's Your Favorite?
There is a commercial on TV hosted by a local news station where the news anchors each list their favorite childhood gift. I thought it would be neat to hear from all "4" of my blog readers (hee hee) what your favorite childhood gift was and your favorite gift as an adult. (Even if you didn't celebrate Christmas as a child, you could list your favorite gift from anything)
My favorite gift as a child was the year we (my sister and I) got the entire HOTWHEELS City. It was soooooo awesome, especially the intersections where you could push a button and it would send the car "speeding" through the intersection- I also liked the intersection where the pedestrian was crossing (let's just say that pedestrian sustained many a broken bones)
My favorite gift as an adult: the gift of eternal salvation. I have come to an appreciation and love of my Lord and Saviour that I never understood as a child.... No gift could top it!

What Would You Give the Queen?

I am sure most of you have heard that President Obama has been criticized over his gift given to the Queen of England. A video iPod with inscription, songs uploaded and accessories, plus a rare musical songbook signed by Richard Rodgers. If you think about it, that's probably the most nerve-racking thing... finding the perfect gift for someone who literally has EVERYTHING!!! She owns a country for goodness sake! :)
I was looking online for past gifts given to the queen and came up with a pretty ODD list of items:
During her reign Her Majesty has received lacrosse sticks, sunglasses, a pair of sandals, pineapples, eggs, a box of snail shells, a grove of maple trees, a dozen tins of of tuna, 7kg of prawns, a canary from Germany, jaguars and sloths from Brazil, two black beavers from Canada, two young giant turtles from the Seychelles and an elephant called Jumbo from the Cameroon.
So what would I give to the queen if I had the opportunity? A homemade maccaroni necklace (just because), a framed photograph of Joshua (because he is the cutest little boy in the whole-wide-world) and a Hostess Lemon Pie (because they are very hard to come by).
What would you give the queen?
